One day we woke up to the sounds of sawing and general activity.
“ What? They didn’t tell us they were building a fence! For goodness’ sake , we could have torn down the old chain link to make room for it! Then, they would have enough room to not have to go around the tree! Look at that, they didn’t even align it well with the property line!”
It essentially cut out a foot wide no man’s land between the two fences, which became a safe haven for vines and weeds.
About a week later, they sent someone to go chop down the tree, cutting it off just an inch below the latticed part of the design.
But oh, I almost forgot. Good morning, Oppo!

Sounds like you rip out the old chain link and then enjoy your new slightly larger lawn?

When I looked at what would become my house before buying it, there was no fence between my yard and the house behind it. When I did the final walkthrough before closing, there were some posts. When I moved in, there was chainlink. I don’t mind it, but I found it funny.

Did they cut that tree down with a hand saw?! That’s the worst job I’ve ever seen. And why not take it to the ground?

Well, some are not quite in their right minds. B etween the hoarders - animal and object - and the schizophrenic as well as sundry elderly eccentrics, life is always interesting.
And it wasn’t a very good job before the stump started rotting but eventually we will have a few more square footage of yard. Not that that’s a problem, since the property is L- shaped with the top of the stick facing the road. Now it will just be a bumpy L

You should see the fence situation on the other side of the L shaped property. At some point someone leaned some prefab wooden fence panels against the chain link and then a bush grew into it, keeping it from falling over. I think there are about 5 different methods of fencing/hedge just for that one property line.

In our case, every year the number of total fences per property line grows while few fences are ever torn down.

Besides thoroughly annoying us, it looks absolutely absurd from their side of the fence and cuts off access to their pool. The pool literally abuts the fence with only room for that tiny slide between, making walking past impossible.
